Trends for Women in their early 20’s

  • [BAZAAR]

    • Most impactful trends of the season: The decades past via disco collars, 60s wallpaper prints, couture feathers, hot pants, bold neons.

  • [Sourcing journal]

    • 2020 is a clean slate for most designers to break away from streetwear and 90s nostalgia to explore sustainability, fluid design and new forms of utility.

Where Do They Like to Shop?

  • In store: Zara, Forever 21, H&M

  • Online: Asos, Modcloth, Revolve

  • Expensive stores: J.Crew, Ann Taylor Loft, Banana Republic

What being in your 20’s is...

  • Your 20s are all about exploring, finding yourself, and learning about what you like

  • You definitely want to have a good set of professional clothing on hand if you’re in your 20’s

  • Your 20’s allows for a lot more freedom to wear crazy, over-the-top clothes that might not be as relevant to you when you enter the 30s

Who am I interviewing? An RA who lives in my building

Name: Arianna George, 22

  • Arianna likes more neutral colors: pinks, brown, gray, and white. Maybe some yellow, but definitely no orange or any bright neon colors.

  • She leans more to earthy tones.

  • She is halfway between a minimalist and bohemian style

  • Her everyday outfits include: Leggings and a work out top (fitted).

  • Her nicer outfits include: Skinny jeans or boyfriend jeans, strips/solid/and knitted tops.

  • Bright colors is something out of her comfort zone. Floral patterns and stripes are her favorite.

  • She is not a flashy person. She doesn’t like her clothes to be bragging about money.

  • Soft and breathable clothing is a MUST.

  • She likes solid fabrics more than patterned fabrics.

  • The pieces she likes the most is the spaghetti strap shit and the sweat shirt. The picked the sweatshirt because as a whole OUTFIT it looks really flattering. She said the blue from the jeans compliments the colors in the pattern. For the spaghetti strap shirt she couldn’t quite explain why she liked it she was just drawn to it.

  • She believes this pattern is appropriate for women is their early to mid 20s.

  • She can see most women wearing these pieces.

  • Even though she doesn’t quite like bright colors she likes how the colors work together and they all compliment each other.
